Product Information Interface (PII)

The Product Information Interface is used to automatically retrieve service item product information from John Deere using only the serial number. It automatically fills production dates as well as the product hierarchy, component serial numbers, and much more.

This enables dealers and service employees to identify the exact machine information and check the attached components in case they need to be detached or repaired.

Setup

Please perform the setup in the following order:

Product Information Interface setup

First, the basic interface setup must be performed. Please proceed as follows:

• Open the Interface List page in John Deere DBS 365 and select the PRODINFO entry.
• In the General FastTab, keep the Interface Log toggle switch deactivated.
• In the Authorization FastTab:
  • In the Authorization Type field, select the OAuth2 value.
  • In the Authorization Code field, select the PI PROD value.
• In the Parameters FastTab, enter the following information in the Value field to prepare the interface:
  • RequestUrl: defines the URL to be used to retrieve product information from John Deere for a specific PIN.
    Default value: https://product-data-api-cert.deere.com/product/manufacturing/birthCertificate
• When all requirements are met (green or grey values in the Parameters FastTab), enable the interface via the Activate Interface button of the Product Information Interface Card.
• Open the Product Information Component Type Mappings table containing all component mappings via the search (ALT+Q) or the Product Information > Component Type Mapping button in the Product Information Interface Card.
• Map your own serial number types to the component descriptions, to fetch this data upon retrieving product information.

After successful setup, the following can be done with the Product Information Interface:

Retrieving product information from John Deere

To retrieve product information via the PII, please proceed as follows:

• Open the service item you wish to retrieve the information for from the Service Items table or create a new service item.
• In the General FastTab, add the serial number in the Serial No. field.
• In the Attributes FastTab, select JD in the Manufacturer dropdown list.
• Click on the Actions > Retrieve Product Information button to retrieve the product information.

• The product hierarchy as well as component and production date information is added to the Service Item Card page.
• The component serial numbers and types are added to the Service Item Serial Nos. table of the service item. The selected JD Imported checkbox indicates that the current record was loaded via the John Deere Product Information Interface.
• The Product Information Retrieved checkbox in the Service Items table is selected. This indicates that the current record was loaded via the John Deere Product Information Interface and cannot be retrieved again.
